- This is a battery powered LED lamp that is roughly the size of a jar of peanut butter. It runs on three AA-batteries (not included) and is about as simple to operate as could be. There is a cap on the top of this lantern that simply slides straight up and as it does so the light turns on. To turn it off, slide the cap back down. It just does not get simpler than that. The cap has a two-piece handle on it that allows this lantern to be hung easily. This makes it very suitable for lighting a small camp area, hanging in a tent or hanging from a light fixture when using it for emergency power.
- It"s my own fault that I assumed this was a bigger lantern than it turned out to be. At the moment, I"ve got a can of V-8 sitting next to me, and they are almost neck-and-neck for size. I was really disappointed, thinking I had been scammed into thinking that this was a "real" lantern. Well, after fooling with it a bit, I was absolutely floored to discover that this thing shed quite a bright light around me, definitely bright enough to allow me to read or do other work in the event of an emergency like the awful hurricane and ice storm that knocked out our power for some time a couple of years ago. A family member just had a new baby and lives out in the boonies. This would be a perfect gift to give her peace of mind. Of course, I want them for myself, especially because I live in a two story house and would never want to be stuck upstairs without light to get out of the house.I must say this is a good value.
- It"s perfect for camping as well as emergency uses. This takes only 3 AA batteries (not included) and is really bright! I love how compact it is.This lantern works by simply pulling it open. Once it"s even partly open the light will show through. It"s bright enough to give a glow from the inside of the lantern. Once it"s fully closed the light goes off. You can either sit the light on a flat surface, such as a table, or hang it from a hook with the metal carry handles. It"s also easy to carry because of the handles.This light offers 100,000 hours of lifetime light and works both indoors and outdoors. You can get about a good 10 feet of light circled around you from what I noticed. Overall an excellent light and a new favorite emergency accessory in our home!
