UK company (3UK) is ready to enter the country's mobile 5g market, detailing plans to launch services at the end of this month, with executives promising to provide twice the data rate of their competitors.

3 Dave Dyson, chief executive of the UK, said in a statement that the operator "will provide twice the peak mobile rate of other operators" due to its wider spectrum.

The company owns a spectrum of 100MHz from 3.4GHz to 3.8ghz, which it says will make downloads faster. Vodafone UK holds 50MHz spectrum, while O2 UK and EE respectively hold 40MHz spectrum.

3 the UK initially planned to provide mobile 5G services in 65 regions, including London, Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester, Bermingham, Coventry and Nottingham city.

The service is based on its fixed wireless access 5g service launched in 2019.

The company had promised to launch its mobile business by the end of 2019, keeping pace with competitors, but was delayed due to technical difficulties and planning licensing issues.

Kester Mann, CCS insight's director of consumer and connectivity, said in a statement that in the 2019 5g launch, the UK failed to "match its propaganda" due to most of the limelight being snatched by competitors, and now it's time for the operator to cash in.

"In the long run, being the last UK operator to offer 5g services on smartphones is not significant for customers. The penetration of 5g devices is still very low, in part because of their high price and lack of iPhone support. This will change in 2020, the first shot in the battle for real users. " He said.
