Vodafone announced a breakthrough in the commercial use of dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) through its perspectives online blog, according to Light Reading on February 3. It is reported that Vodafone, in cooperation with Ericsson, Huawei and Qualcomm, has enabled two "low frequency band" (700MHz and 800MHz) DSS on its non independent (NSA) equipment located in Dusseldorf laboratory. Among them, "800MHz is used as' anchored frequency band ', while 700MHz is dynamically shared between 4G and 5g, so that operators can seamlessly allocate spectrum resources according to network requirements". According to Gabriel brown, 5g expert of heavy reading, Vodafone test uses two low-frequency bands, which is very valuable for operators without if spectrum.

Through DSS, operators can dynamically share spectrum between two different technologies (such as 4G and 5g). This technology has long been considered as a more efficient and reliable way for operators in the early stage of 5g service.
