Hemostasis is an important step in medical treatment. It needs to stop bleeding when patients’ liver, spleen and other tissues and organs hurt or having operation; and in sudden trauma in daily life, we also need rapid hemostasis. During war and complex bursts, it’s quite important to have rapid and effective hemostasis. With the continuous development of nanotechnology in the world, China has also made major breakthroughs in the field of nano hemostatic technology medical research. This article briefly describes two electrospinning nano hemostatic techniques.

Nano-hemostatic technology No.1 - A Gas-assisted In-situ Electrospinning Device That Electrospins α-cyanoacrylate Medical Collagen into Micro-nanofibers to Quickly Achieve Large-invasion Wound Healing in the Viscera.

According to the Phoenix Military Report, Jiang Kai, a Prof. of hepatobiliary surgery at the General Hospital of PLA, and a multidisciplinary team such as Prof. Long Yunze of Qingdao University and Jiang Xingyu of the National Nanoscience and Technology Center, together designed a gas-assisted in-situ electrospinning device. And this technique was first applied to hepatic resection and hemostasis experiments in living animals.

The results show that the device can electrospin the α-cyanoacrylate medical collagen into micro-nano fibers. The “α-cyanoacrylate medical glue” is the main component of “super glue”, which has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration to use in human body to stop bleeding. It is precisely and evenly deposited on the surface of the wound under the guidance of airflow to form a dense film, which can quickly achieve reliable hemostasis of large-scale visceral wounds. The relevant results were published in the journal Chemical World of the Royal Society of Chemistry. The technology will fully exploit the potential of existing medical hemostatic materials with a new concept and change its traditional application. It is expected to reduce the operation time, reduce the cost of medical treatment, improve the safety of the operation, and make the surgical resection and hemostasis of the vital organs in the future fast and reliable, making it possible to abandon the traditional conventional placement of the drainage tube.

Nano Hemostatic Technology No.2 - Preparation of Chitosan by Coaxial Electrospinning Device

Patent name: Chitosan Nanofiber Hemostatic Material And Preparation Method

Application No.: CN201310424666.5

The invention provides a chitosan nanofiber hemostatic material and a preparation method, wherein the chitosan nanofiber hemostatic material is a core-shell type nanofiber, wherein the chitosan forms a shell of nanofibers, and the polyvinyl alcohol forms a nanometer. The core of the fiber, the core-shell type nanofiber has a diameter of 100 nm to 20 μm. In the present invention, a nano-material of a chitosan-polyvinyl alcohol (CS-PVP) core-shell structure having a high chitosan content and a high specific surface is prepared by a coaxial electrospinning technology for hemostasis of an organism. The experiment proves that the chitosan-polyvinyl alcohol nanofiber of the invention has good biocompatibility and excellent hemostatic property, and the PVP material retains good water absorption and fibrillation, and the excellent CS material is combined. Antibacterial hemostasis can be used clinically for hemostasis of wounds. And the preparation method is simple, quick and efficient.
