Why do we make prototypes? The purpose of a Rapid Prototype is to evaluate visual design aspects, functional design aspects, and production capabilities.
To avoid wasting valuable time and money, we make 1 or 2 prototype models before making 10 or 20 hundreds of thousands of products in mass production.
As an example, this Rapid Prototype model of a game controller is made from ABS plastic material and the process used to fabricate the parts is 3 Axis CNC Machining, then the ABS plastic is sanded and painted. Lastly, the graphics are applied using pad printing and silk screening techniques.
