Core Tip: Now the prices of fingerprint locks in the market are far from each others. The prices are from hundreds to thousands, what are the difference between them? The sellers give a high price, or have another advantage? It’s not easy for our layman consumer or the agent to understand. Knowing the eight factors that affect the price of a fingerprint lock, will reassure you to buy a cost-effective fingerprint lock.
1. Lock body material
The material used in the lock body is an important factor affecting the price of fingerprint locks. Of course, the more expensive material it uses, the higher cost it will be, then the price will naturally be high. At present, there are mainly four kinds of materials used in smart lock body in the market. They are copper, stainless steel, zinc alloy and aluminum alloy. The material price of copper is the highest, followed by stainless steel, followed by zinc alloy, and the lowest price is aluminum alloy. Copper is expensive and the manufacturing cost is high. Stainless steel is better than zinc alloy, but more expensive than zinc alloy, meanwhile, because it’s difficult to mold, the manufacturing cost is higher than zinc alloy. The zinc alloy is easy to mold, and the hardness is also good. It has stainless steel corrosion resistance, and its material price and manufacturing cost are lower than stainless steel. The price of aluminum alloy is lower than other materials, and it’s not easy to oxidize. But the only drawback is easy to deform by impact, and the hardness is not as good as zinc alloy.
Price of materials: Copper > Stainless Steel > Zinc Alloy > Aluminum Alloy
Difficulty of manufacturing process: Copper > Stainless Steel > Zinc Alloy > Aluminum Alloy
2. Mortise Material
At present, there are five kinds of materials mainly used in mortise. They are copper, stainless steel, Ferrous powder, Q235 and zinc alloy. Copper, stainless steel, and Ferrous powder used more in mortise, then more durable. The life of zinc alloy is much shorter than other materials.
Price of materials: Copper > Stainless Steel > Ferrous powder > Q235 > Zinc Alloy
Difficulty of manufacturing process: Copper > Stainless Steel > Ferrous powder > Q235 > Zinc Alloy
3. Cylinder Material
There are two kinds of materials mainly used in cylinder of residence fingerprint lock, copper and stainless steel. Cylinder often has to Undergo key pull-in, rotation, so zinc alloy, aluminum alloy and plastic are not suitable for the cylinder material. It’s easy to deform in the process of repeating the operation of the key. So why not iron? Because iron is very easy to rust.
◪Price of materials: Copper > Stainless Steel
◪Difficulty of manufacturing process: Copper > Stainless Steel
4. Fingerprint sensor technique
There are three kinds of sensors, scratched fingerprint sensor, optical fingerprint sensor and semiconductor fingerprint sensor. Optical fingerprint sensor and semiconductor fingerprint sensor are the most ideal sensors. Scratched fingerprint sensor is not easy to operate. The price of semiconductor fingerprint sensor is about three times of optical fingerprint sensor. The price of optical fingerprint sensor is moderate, and scratched fingerprint sensor is the cheapest. At present, optical fingerprint sensor is the most widely used in the market.
Price of fingerprint sensor: Semiconductor fingerprint sensor > Optical fingerprint sensor > Scratched fingerprint sensor
5. With Sliding Cover or not
Whether need the sliding cover depends on the personal demands and preferences. Normally, the price of the lock with sliding cover is higher than without sliding cover, because it needs much more materials and manufacturing processes.
6. With card reading function or not
The price of fingerprint lock with card reading function is higher than the one without reading card function.
7. Password Function
Now most of the fingerprint locks have password function in the market. Of course, the price will be higher if the lock has this function.
8. Remote opening function
