iBridge Ultra connector provides reliable and robust connection for automotive systems
A few days ago, ERNI launched a new model of the iBridge Ultra connector series, which added other connectors to the already extensive wire-to-board solution. These 2.0mm pitch connectors are designed to provide compact and reliable connections that can withstand strong vibrations and are suitable for use in harsh environments. Key features include Terminal Position Assurance (TPA), which is used to provide secondary locking of crimp contacts in the female connector housing. In addition to the positioning pins of the male connector parts, this auxiliary locking feature can also particularly enhance the connection's resistance to strong vibrations, such as those found in automotive applications. iBridge Ultra has been tested to the USCAR-2 and USCAR-21 requirements of the automotive industry. In addition, this rugged and compact solution is also well-suited for many other applications that require connections in high vibration environments.
iBridge Ultra's compact design supports applications where space is limited between the control unit and local components such as sensors, motors, switches, fans, heating elements or LEDs. Despite their miniaturized design, these connectors still provide up to 7A of current carrying capacity per contact, while their crimp contacts are specified for AWG 22 and AWG 24 crimp terminals. The polarized keys on the female connector part and the polarized grooves on the male connector part provide polarity reversal protection to ensure a tight fit. Its dual-beam female connector contacts prevent misalignment, while stamped male contacts Ensures ruggedness, coplanarity, and high current load capability.
This new connector family includes a variety of models: vertical male connectors and angled male connectors (SMT first, with through-hole solder (DIP) options coming soon), as well as 180 ° Cable connector female connector connector (crimped). Male connector surface mount models are available in tape and reel packaging, while male solder connectors are delivered in tubular packages, both of which are suitable for fully automated assembly. These connectors with tinned contacts operate over a wide temperature range of -40 to + 100 ° C and are available in 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 and 12 pin types.
