If you are purchasing a Guitar from Xuqiu, for either yourself or your child, you will want to make sure you choose the right size guitar. So we have put together a simple guide.
Teacher Recommendation:
The first port of call when finding out the size and style of beginner electric guitar to go for is to talk to a music teacher. A music teacher will know which guitar will best suit the student and they will be able to recommend the best size for the students age, ability, and height. You should always go with the teacher recommended size. However, if you do not have a teacher recommended size read on to find out how get the size yourself.
Age:
Whilst there are some exceptions to the rule, generally age is a great indicator of the size guitar required. In the table below you will find the size of guitar recommended for the age of the player.
Height:
Another easy way to find out which size guitar you should get is to measure the height of the player.
Measure the height of the player whilst they are standing upright with good posture.
Once you have the measurement consult the table below to find out which size guitar to get.
It is worth keeping in mind that even though 3/4 and 7/8 guitars are recommended for those between the ages of 8-12, this doesn't mean that they are not suitable for adults. Many adults choose these sizes as they are more comfortable in smaller hands, are easier to travel with, or they like the sound they give. It is important to choose the guitar you think will be the most comfortable as getting a guitar that, for example is too big, may not only cause discomfort but may also hinder the players learning.
