How to judge whether the voltage regulator is bad or not?

The use of voltage regulators is now a very common thing. If one day the power consumption is abnormal, how can we judge whether it is the problem of the voltage regulator or the power lines? KEBO voltage stabilizer manufacturer tell you how to check whether the voltage regulator is damaged or not.

How to judge the quality of AC voltage regulator?

First use the multimeter's AC voltage file to measure the mains voltage, (that is, the input voltage of the regulator) to see how much higher or lower than the standard V.

Then use a multimeter to measure the output voltage after the regulator works, and compare the two voltages.

No matter how much the input voltage of the voltage regulator deviates from the standard volt, as long as the output voltage of the voltage regulator is closer to volts, it means that the voltage regulation effect of this voltage regulator is better.

There are two measurement methods:

1. Measure the resistance between each pin

Due to the numerous brands and models of integrated voltage regulators, their electrical parameters are somewhat discrete. By measuring the resistance between the pins of the integrated voltage regulator, it can only be estimated whether the integrated voltage regulator is damaged. If the measured positive and negative resistance values between a pair of pins are very small or close to Ω, it can be judged that the integrated voltage regulator has been damaged internally. If the measured positive and negative resistance values between the two pins of the whip are infinite, it means that the integrated voltage regulator has been opened and damaged. If the measured resistance of the integrated voltage regulator is unstable and changes with temperature, it means that the integrated voltage regulator has poor thermal stability.

2. Measure the voltage value

Even if the resistance value of the integrated voltage regulator is normal, it cannot be determined that the voltage regulator is intact, and it should be further measured whether its voltage regulation value is normal. During the measurement, a DC voltage can be added between the voltage input terminal of the integrated voltage regulator and the ground terminal (the positive electrode is connected to the input terminal).

This voltage should be higher than the nominal output voltage of the voltage regulator under test by more than V (for example, the integrated voltage regulator under test is 78, and the applied DC voltage is +9V), but it cannot exceed its maximum input voltage.

If the measured voltage value between the output of the integrated voltage regulator and the ground is stable, and within ±% of the nominal voltage regulation value of the integrated voltage regulator, the integrated voltage regulator is performing well.
