(ACE) Samsung Electronics recently announced that it has completed the acquisition of TeleWorld solutions (TWS), a US company, aimed at accelerating its expansion in the 5g market in the US.
TWS is a Virginia based network service provider that provides network design, testing and optimization services to mobile operators, cable operators, device OEMs and other companies across the United States. With the promotion of 5g and 4G LTE-A network construction in the United States, Samsung's acquisition will meet the demand for end-to-end support when delivering network solutions.
It is reported that after the acquisition, TWS will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics USA. TWS's services and customer base complement Samsung's growth in network infrastructure customers. With its capabilities in RF and network design services as well as installation, testing and optimization services, TWS will continue to serve existing customers and those they currently support with Samsung.
Paul Kyungwhoon Cheun, executive vice president and head of network business of Samsung Electronics, said: "the acquisition of TWS will enable us to meet the growing demand of mobile operators for improving their 4G and 5g networks, and ultimately create new opportunities to enhance our ability to serve customers. Samsung will continue to promote the innovation of communication technology and provide optimized services for network deployment to accelerate the expansion of 5g network in the United States. "
Samsung said the continued growth in mobile traffic usage has driven demand for new spectrum and network densification. In addition, the demand for network infrastructure, design, deployment and optimization services is growing. This is driven by 5g network construction, network virtualization plan, testing and optimization related to the new open ran architecture, and the demand for new enterprise cellular network.
Samsung had reached cooperation with major network operators in the United States to build and expand 5g network.
