At the beginning
As early as 1824, French physicist Sardicano pulished a paper to put forward the theory of “Kano systle” (compressed heat pump), which became the origin of heat pump technology.
Then in 1852, the British scientist L. Kelvin proposed that the refrigeration device could be used for heating, and the reverse Carnot cycle could be used for heating the heat pump. The scientist proposed the first formal heat pump system, the heat multiplier.
In the following decades, scientists have done a lot of research, and the development of refrigerators has laid a good foundation for hea tpump manufacturing. In the 1920s, heat pump entered the initial stage of development.
In 1912, Zurich, Switzerland, successfully installed a water source heat pump system, heralding the world’s first heat pump system.
Air source heat pump technology was invented in 1924. The first air source heat pump was installed and tested in Scotland in 1927. (The heat pump uses air as heat source for hot water supply and heating)
Development
After a short period of stagnation, heat pump entered a period of rapid development in the 1940s and 1950s, and various demestic and commercial heat pump were developed and entered the market.
During this period, a number of representative heat pump devices appeared, such as heat pump devices applied to schools, hospitals, offices and dairy farms in Europe from 1937 to 1941.
Due to the outbreak of the worldwide energy crisis and the sharp rise in fuel prices, the improved heat pump has become the most valuable new energy product at that time because of its characteristics of high efficiency recovery of low-temperature environmental heat energy, energy saving and environmental protection.
In the 1970s, various countries have increased their research and development of heat pump, formulated various development plans, and developed more extensive uses and technologies of heat pump. Thereafter, heat pump entered a golden period of development.
Japan, Sweden and France pay more attention to the production of small domestic heat pump with outdoor air as heat source. Britain and Germany pay more attention to the use of large heat pump devices in heat recovery systems of large commercial and public buildings.
From 1971 to 1976, the output of heat pump in the United States increased from 82,000 units to 300,000 units. In 1977, the annual output of heat pump in Japan exceeded 500,000 units. The output of Austrialia, Britain, France, Nordic Europe and Singapore increased exponentially.
In China
Although heat pump has a long history, the development of heat pump in China is lagging behind, It was not unitl the 1980s that hea tpump was developed and studied. In the 1990s, the state actively introduced foreign heat pump technology and advanced productino lines, and began to vigorously develop heat pump devices and heat pump systems suited to the national conditions.
In the 21st century, China has gradually formed a complete heat pump industry system, with continuous technological innovation and development. Heat pump have entered the stage of market promotion, and small domestic heat pump and large heat pump devices have been popularized.
In recent years, with the promotion of the national policy of coal-to-electricity conversion, energy-saving and emission reduction, people’s pursuit of environmental protection and energy-saving products, the maturity of air-energy heat pump technology, innovative breakthroughts in natural refrigerant and frequency conversion technology of heat pump, heat pump with wide applications have start their own space in China.
