Yoga is a fashionable fitness sport nowadays, but the cleaning of yoga mat has become an easy forgotten corner for Yoga lovers. Yang Hongyun, chief dermatologist of the first people's Hospital in Xiangyang, Hubei Province, cautioned that to ensure hygiene, it is best to clean the yoga mat every other week.
Yoga mat is often washed and healthier
Commonly used yoga mats are made of PVC foam. The chemical name of this material is polychloroethylene, which is similar to the smell of rubber. If the yoga mat is not cleaned for a long time, it is likely that there are bacteria, fungi and dust mites, among which bacteria will cause folliculitis, fungi are prone to tinea corporis and beriberi, and dust mites are the biggest threat to people with allergic constitution, which is to induce allergic dermatitis and asthma. In particular, people who only do yoga once for a long time or are used to using public mats are most likely to be infected with a variety of skin diseases.
Yang Hongyun suggested that the best way to prevent infection is to prepare your own yoga mat. For ordinary simple cleaning, you can put two cups of water and a few drops of detergent into the sprayer. After spraying the yoga mat, dry it with a dry cloth. If the mat is dirty, fill the tub with cold water, then add washing powder, then scrub the mat with a wet cloth, and then rinse it clean. Finally, roll up the yoga mat with a large dry towel, absorb the excess water, and then dry it.
In addition, we need to remind that after yoga, it's best to choose the bath gel containing bacteriostatic ingredients for bathing, and the fitness clothes should be soaked with disinfectant, or washed and dried in the sun for a long time.
