Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will meet with EU digital and industry leaders on February 17, EU officials said Tuesday. Two days later, the European Union will submit a plan to limit the development of US technology giants.

In addition to Margrethe vestager, European competition and digital Commissioner, and Thierry Breton, internal market commissioner, Zuckerberg will also meet Vera jourova, judicial commissioner.

"Mark Zuckerberg will travel to Europe next week for a Munich Security Conference and meet with European policymakers in Brussels to discuss the framework of new Internet rules and regulations," Facebook said.

Vestage will propose to create a single European data market on February 19 to challenge the dominance of US technology giants such as Facebook, Google and Amazon, a European said.

They will also propose rules to manage the use of AI. The committee is expected to seek feedback before finalizing the rules.

According to a survey seen by Reuters, Facebook has become a target of vestag because it has been using data collected from classified advertisers for many years and can also use its data for any purpose, including publishing competitive products.

Zuckerberg's last public appearance in Brussels was in 2018, when he met with leaders of the European Parliament to answer questions about how to improperly share 2.7 million European user data with Cambridge consulting, a political consultancy.
