★ What is the difference between D2R D2S D2C?

The biggest issue when it comes to the way these bulbs are sold deals with the final letter. There is a major difference between D2R, D2S, and D2C bulbs:

As shown in the picture, the D2C has the notches to fit both a D2R and D2S socket. Many sellers therefore just offer the D2C as a "D2" universal fitment bulb. This saves money for inventory and stocking, but it is not a safe or proper way to replace your bulbs.

Why? Because the "S" is only to be used in projector headlights. The "R" is only to be used in reflector headlights.

The D2R bulb has a reflective strip on the bulb itself, which provides the cutoff line required in reflector-type headlight housings. The "universal" D2C bulb does not have this reflective strip. This is true for D1, D2, D3, and D4 bulbs.
