LED Light Bulbs
Benefits of LED Lights
LED light bulbs can save you money not only because they are roughly 80 percent more energy efficient than other bulbs, they also produce far less heat than metal halides, CFLs, and incandescent light bulbs. Upgrading to LED lighting means you wont spend your summer months cooling down rooms that your light bulbs are busy heating up. While originally a cooler blue tone than incandescent bulbs, LEDs now come in daylight and warm white color temperatures so you can more easily replace your existing bulbs without altering the color of your room. Visit our Lighting Guide to see what difference color temperature makes. LED lighting also offers a superior color rendering index (CRI), so you can see the colors of your artwork or makeup more accurately.
LED replacement bulbs are durable and ecologically friendly. Did you know you can recycle LED bulbs and reduce your carbon footprint up to one third? LEDs outlast the competition, staying bright for up to 11 years of continuous operation. This means less time climbing ladders trying to replace those hard to reach bulbs in vaulted ceilings.
LEDs are one of todays most promising technologies.
LEDs or Fluorescents - Which is More Efficient?
LED light bulbs for the win! When it comes to purchasing energy-efficient lighting, LEDs surpass CFLs by a wide margin. LEDs are instant-start with no warmup time needed. They work well in cold weather, and are substantially more durable since manufactured out of plastic instead of glass. From standard bulbs to fluorescent tubes, LEDs can replicate the same lighting conditions found in fluorescents while lasting longer and using less energy. As an added bonus, all LEDs are RoHS compliant and do not use mercury, a claim that cant be made by fluorescent bulbs.

PAR16 LED Light Bulbs
Benefits of PAR16 LED Bulbs
When compared to their halogen brethren, you already know a PAR16 LED bulb is more energy efficient, but did you also know it gives off less heat? Not only do the LEDs use less energy, you can cut down on how much you use the air conditioning in the summer. PAR16 LED bulbs are on the smaller end of the scale with a maximum diameter of 2 inches. The smaller size and narrower beam angle make these bulbs a popular option for track lighting, recessed lighting, pendant lighting, and display lighting. Commonly used in jewelry stores, museums, and art galleries, they are small enough to also be used in under-cabinet lighting and antique cabinets. Several of these PAR LED bulbs are dimmable, have a high color rendering index, and are Energy Star certified.
Color Temperature
Kelvin is a measure of color temperature, telling you how warm or cool the light output of the bulb. The lower the Kelvin rating, the warmer (more yellow or orange) the light output will be. A 2700K warm white PAR16 LED gives off a similar color light as an incandescent. Bulbs giving off light in the 3000 Kelvin range are called halogen white because it most closely matches the light youre used to from a halogen bulb. If you want the same look of your original incandescent or halogen bulbs, PAR16 LED bulbs in these color temperatures are a good place to start. Higher 4000K and 5000K color temperatures will be more stark white and blue in contrast. Higher temperatures may be used for track lighting or display lighting, but we recommend sticking to the lower Kelvin bulbs for recessed lighting or ambient lighting.
What is High CRI?
CRI stands for color rendering index. It is a measure of how accurately a light bulb displays colors compared to the sun. Without a high CRI, colors can look washed out or at worse, inaccurate. If clothing stores dont use high CRI bulbs, when you get home with your garment, you may realize the fabric is a different shade than it was in the store. High CRI bulbs have a color rendering index of 90 or above. This is most important for display lighting.
