1. Does this unit use a motion detector sensor to turn on or does it have to be on all of the time?
It has a red infrared light in the middle that goes off when the motion detector is tripped (the white sensor in the middle). I guess to show that it is working, since it doesn"t make a sound in any frequency a human can hear. I think it works at night as long as the batteries stay charged. I"ve only had it for a few weeks and they seem to stay charged although i"m not sure if it is actually working since some of my plants did get eaten. I repositioned it to see if it would help.
The white light is the sensor and it does not light up. There is a red light upon the white light which will turn on when it is working.
