A 6V4Ah Lead acid front terminal battery consist of a group of plates , positive and negative plates separated by separators which prevent short circuiting an electrolyte, the plastic container which is divided in 3 compartments to made up 6v. Electrolyte is dilute sulphuric acid and specific gravity of 1.280 (when fully charged). The plates play an important role which are made of composite of grid and active material. That is where the electric energy stored.

If you need 24 volt for working you can connect two pieces batteries series like the way show on the left side.
Batteries of parallel connection
If you need 12 volt for working but need to power for longer time you can connect batteries parallel like the way show on the right side.
